Game Day: Tallahassee at Gulf Coast State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 11, 2014) - It's early but Tallahassee Community College's men's basketball team faces a near must-win situation on Saturday evening when the Eagles travel to Gulf Coast State College for an 8:30 p.m. eastern tilt against the Commodores. 

The Panhandle Conference doubleheader begins at 6:30 with women's action and both games can be seen on GCTV.

The Eagle men (11-7) will try to rebound from a pair of heartbreaking overtime losses to Northwest Florida State College and Pensacola State College. 

In both games, Tallahassee was in position to win the game in regulation but couldn't connect on a go-ahead free throw in the final seconds. 

Unlike last Saturday's PC opener, the Eagles opened the extra period on a strong note against Pensacola State, scoring the first four points, but the Pirates closed OT on a 12-4 run to claim the win and drop Tallahassee to 0-2. 

Gulf Coast State (12-6, 0-1) lost its PC opener on Tuesday at Chipola College, 69-65. 

Meanwhile, the Tallahassee women (10-9, 1-1) will try to make it two wins in a row against a Commodore squad coming off their first loss of the season. 

The Eagles posted their highest scoring output in league play in close to eight years, defeating Pensacola State, 91-80, on Tuesday while Gulf Coast State (16-1, 0-1) fell at Chipola on Tuesday, 68-61.

Saturday's other Panhandle Conference matchup will pit Northwest Florida State at Pensacola State.
