The decision is in: TCC’s Cameron Dozier signs with University of Charleston

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (July 17, 2014) – After talking with schools as close by as neighboring Florida A&M University and as far west as the University of San Francisco, Tallahassee Community College men's basketball standout Cameron Dozier decided to head north and picked the University of Charleston, where he signed a national letter of intent.

Dozier, a native of Chipley, Fla., will have three years of eligibility remaining with the Golden Eagles.

"Cameron has shown the toughness and mental capacity to be a very good collegiate point guard," said Tallahassee head coach Eddie Barnes. "On top of that, he's a proven winner."

Dozier originally signed with Palm Beach State College in 2012 and joined the Panthers on the heels of a standout prep career at Chipley High School. Following the Fall 2012 semester, however, Dozier transferred from Palm Beach State and enrolled at Tallahassee in January 2013.

He eventually made his collegiate debut last fall with the Eagles and proceeded to appear in 25 games as the Eagles' starting point guard, averaging 6.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.7 points per game.

"He overcame some injuries and played in a system that allowed him to grow," added Barnes. "He has three years (at Charleston) and, within that time, I think he will shine at the next level."

The University of Charleston, an NCAA Division II program, is located in Charleston, W. Va., and competes in the Mountain East Conference.
