Eagles down St. Petersburg to improve to 4-0

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 8, 2014) –Tallahassee Community College's men's basketball team, ranked No. 4 in the FCSAA Coaches' Poll, beat No. 8 St. Petersburg College in Saturday's home opener, 94-79.

The Eagles never trailed on Saturday and took a 46-33 lead to the intermission. Dirk Williams came off the bench with an impressive 18 points in the first half. St. Petersburg was paced by Prince Foster's ten points over the first 20 minutes.

Tallahassee continued its strong play in the second half, putting another 48 points on the scoreboard while never seeing its lead shrink below eight.

Williams (26), Rysheed Corbin (20) and Cameron Smith (10) combined to score 56 points for Tallahassee.

Following his final home opener as coach of the Eagles, Eddie Barnes described his team as having a "very good intensity" level while performing well against a strong St. Petersburg team.

The Eagles hope to continue their winning streak next Friday when they travel to Waycross, Ga., for the Applebee's Okefenokee Classic. Tallahassee will play South Georgia Technical College at 6 p.m.
