Eagles rout Gordon State for seventh victory

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 18, 2014) - FCSAA No. 1 Tallahassee Community College improved to 7-0 with a 97-71 victory over Gordon (Ga.) State College on Tuesday evening at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome.

Four players scored in double figures for Tallahassee led by Elmo Stephen's 18. Earlier on Tuesday, Stephen was named NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 29.0 points in the Eagles' two weekend victories at the Applebee's Okefenokee Classic, hosted by South Georgia State College.

Cameron Smith scored 17 and pulled down nine rebounds. Eric Nottage added 14 and Dirk Williams chipped in with 13.

Gordon State trailed 49-38 at the break and pulled within seven in the early stages of the second half, but Tallahassee blew the game wide open with a 28-5 run.

The Eagles outscored the Highlanders in the second half 48-33 on the strength of 55.6 percent (20-of-36) shooting from the floor. Tallahassee hit 40-of-76 shots (52.6 percent) for the game

The Eagles also dominated the glass, outrebounding Gordon State 43-23.

Tallahassee will return to action on Friday when it travels to Hillsborough Community College for a 7:30 p.m. matchup.
