TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 21,2014) – The TCC Eagles (6-0) will hit the road to take on Region 8 foe Hillsborough Community College (4-2) on Friday night. This will be the first of two meetings between these two schools this year
The Eagles are currently ranked #1 in the FCSAA Coaches Poll and are coming off of a big win over Gordon State College on Tuesday night. Dirk Williams leads the team in scoring this season with a team high 19.7 points a game. Williams has only started in two games this season and is a threat coming off the bench that helps fuel the tempo of the Eagles offense. Defensively they are led by Cameron Smith who is dominating the boards pulling down 8.7 rebounds a game.
The Hawks come into the game averaging 59.7 points a game behind the play of Daniel Harris. Harris leads the team in shooting with 16 points per game on 40 percent shooting. Harris is also one of the team leaders on defense with 6 rebounds. Chauncey Day also posses a threat defensively with his ability to rebound the ball.
The Eagles and the Hawks have faced off five times in their history with TCC dominating the series 5-0. This will be the Eagles first trip to Tampa in the series' history. All games, with the exception of the first of the series, have been played at neutral sites with that first game being played in Tallahassee in 1994. The last time these two teams met, in 2010, the Eagles beat Hillsborough 75-61.
The TCC Eagles will look to keep their win streak and their undefeated season alive when the game gets underway Friday at 7:00pm.
