8-0: Eagles down Hillsborough 82-61

TAMPA, Fla. (November 22, 2014) – FCSAA No. 1 Tallahassee Community College won its eighth straight game to start the 2014-15 season, defeating Hillsborough Community College 82-61 on Friday evening.

The Eagles' 8-0 start is their best since opening the 2005-06 season with nine straight victories. That team won state and regional titles and advanced to the national championship game.

By scoring 82 points, Tallahassee also eclipsed the 80-point barrier for the eighth consecutive game – the first time that's happened since the 2001-02 season, head coach Eddie Barnes' first season with the Eagles.

Tallahassee led 45-38 at the break then outscored the host Hawks 37-25 over the final 20 minutes.

Elmo Stephen led the way offensively, scoring 19 points. He was a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line.

Dirk Williams added 15 points and five rebounds. Cameron Smith scored 11 points and pulled down six rebounds.

Eric Nottage scored nine points and was credited with five rebounds and six assists.

Tallahassee hosts the Capital Courtyard Classic November 25-27. Men's action tips off Wednesday, November 26 with a pair of games. The Eagles' 8:30 p.m. tip against Jefferson Davis (Ala.) Community College follows a 6:30 p.m. game between nationally-ranked opponents – No. 11 Southwest Tennessee Community College and No. 14 Northwest Florida State College.
