MARIANNA, Fla. (January 13, 2015) – The Tallahassee Community College Eagles defeated Panhandle Conference rival Chipola College 61-58 on Tuesday evening. The win improved the Eagles' record to 2-2 in Panhandle Conference play and 16-5 overall.

In a game that featured seven lead changes the Eagles were able to outlast the Indians as the game wound down to the final buzzer.

The Indians jumped out to a quick lead to begin the game and would hold the lead until 10:23 left in the half when Dirk Williams knocked down a jumper to put the Eagles in front.

Chipola led 33-30 at the half.

Tallahassee came out in the second half and retook the lead with 16:55 left in the game and would never relinquish it again.  The Eagles led by as much as eight points but the Indians worked their way back into the game to bring the score within a single possession.  With the Eagles in front by three, Williams missed the back end of a 1-and-1 but the Indians had to settle for a long distance three-pointer that missed its mark as the buzzer sounded.

Williams led Tallahassee with 20 points.

Elmo Stephen recorded his second double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday, January 21 when they hit the road to take on Northwest Florida State College. Tip-off is at 8:30 p.m. eastern.
