Men’s Basketball Preview: Tallahassee vs. St. Petersburg

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 6, 2015) – A pair of top ten teams will square off at 2 p.m. Saturday when Tallahassee Community College hosts St. Petersburg College at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome in a NJCAA Region 8 men's basketball showdown.

Tallahassee brings a 2-1 record and No. 4 ranking in the NJCAA Region 8 Men's Basketball Coaches' Poll into Saturday's games while seventh-ranked St. Petersburg (0-2) is looking for its first win of the season.

After defeating Hillsborough Community College on Thursday, 94-57, St. Petersburg will be the Eagles' second straight opponent from the Suncoast Conference. Tallahassee is the first Panhandle Conference foe on the Titans' schedule after losses to Mid-Florida Conference rivals College of Central Florida and Florida State College at Jacksonville.

Six players reached double-figures in Thursday's night win over the Hawks. Daison Smith led the pack with 18 points while Ryan Johnson added 13. Rashad Lewis scored 12 and three others scored 10 each.

Tallahassee-St. Petersburg Game Notes

  • Tallahassee leads the all-time series 9-2 and is undefeated in four previous meets at the Bill Hebrock  Eagledome
  • St. Petersburg won the teams' previous meeting, 71-52, in St. Petersburg on December 17, 2014, snapping a nine-game losing streak in the series
