Record-breaker: Eagle men defeat TAAG 132-61

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 10, 2015) - Tallahassee Community College set one school record and equaled another in Tuesday's 132-61 win over TAAG Academy in NJCAA men's basketball action.

The 71-point margin of victory set a school record, eclipsing the Eagles' 69-point win (120-51) over Central Carolina (N.C.) Community College on November 26, 1998. Meanwhile, the 132 points tied a school record for the most points scored in a regulation game, set previously on two occasions – against Columbia (Tenn.) State Community College on November 26, 1992, and IMG Academy on November 12, 2008.

Tuesday's game was never in doubt.

The Eagles scored the first 20 points of the game, continuing an early-season trend of putting opponents in an early hole. The lead reached 31 (49-18) at the 4:58 mark of the first half on Tim Dal Bon's three-pointer, and consecutive baskets by Lwal Dung to close the half sent Tallahassee to the locker room with a 65-25 lead.

By the midway point of the second half, the home crowd knew the Eagles were going to hit triple digits. A pair of free throws by Daishon Smith extended the lead to 51 (91-40), and Ryan Johnson's three-pointer at the 7:47 mark pushed the Eagles' advantage to 103-43.

Johnson led six players in double-figures with 27 points. Darius Alexander added 21. Smith scored 19, David Simmons contributed 17, Stavian Allen had 11 and Dung scored 10.

Tallahassee, who is now 4-1, begins a 10-game road trip on Friday with a rematch against NJCAA No. 10 Georgia Highlands College, the only team to defeat the Eagles thus far. The game will be played as part of the Georgia/Florida Shootout in Barnesville, Ga. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
