Eagle women out to snap losing streak at Pensacola State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 22, 2016) – Having dropped four straight games, Tallahassee Community College's women's basketball team needs a win in the worst way. On Saturday, the Eagles will attempt to snap the losing skid when Panhandle Conference play continues at Pensacola State College.

The game tips at 6:30 p.m. eastern and will be followed by men's action at 8:30 p.m. PSB Live will air both games online at www.PSBlive.tv/pensacola-state-college.

The Tallahassee women opened the PC schedule with a 67-65 win over Pensacola State on January 2. Since then, the Eagles have lost to NJCAA No. 2 Gulf Coast State College, No. 6 Chipola College, No. 13 Northwest Florida State College and a second time to Gulf Coast State on Tuesday – the last three by a total of 13 points – to slip into fourth place in the league standings at 1-4.

The Eagles avoided losing more ground to third place Northwest Florida State (2-3) when the Raiders were upset at home on Wednesday by Pensacola State. On the flip side, the win enabled the Pirates (1-4) to pull even with Tallahassee, meaning the winner of Saturday's game will have sole possession of fourth place and move within a half game of the idle Raiders.

The top three teams in the Panhandle Conference will advance to March's NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA State Tournament.

Meanwhile, Saturday's men's game will pit two teams whose seasons have been moving in different directions since the conference scheduled commenced.

Tallahassee has won four of its first five league games and sits one game behind conference-leading Northwest Florida State (5-0). More importantly, the Eagles (4-1) have built a two-game lead over third-place Gulf Coast State (2-3).

Meanwhile, Pensacola State (1-4) has dropped four of five, including a 31-point loss at Northwest Florida State on Wednesday, to fall three games back of Tallahassee, making Saturday a virtual must-win if the Pirates are going to retain any hope of a third straight postseason berth.

Saturday is the first of back-to-back road games for Tallahassee, who travels to Chipola on Tuesday.
