#TCCBasketball: Eagle men fall at Chipola, postseason berth on hold

MARIANNA, Fla. (February 18, 2017) – Chipola College knocked off Tallahassee Community College, 77-65, in men's basketball action on Saturday evening.

Tallahassee (24-5, 7-4 Panhandle Conference) missed an opportunity to clinch a postseason berth and now leads Chipola (21-7, 5-5) by 1.5 games in the PC standings.

Chipola will travel to conference champion Northwest Florida State College on Wednesday and must win to stay alive. Tallahassee will have a week off before closing the regular season at home against Northwest Florida State but won't know until Wednesday if it will be in a must-win situation against the Raiders.

After a slow start by both teams, Tallahassee ran out to a double-digit lead and led 35-24 with two minutes left in the first half. But Chipola closed on a 9-3 run and trailed just 38-33 at the intermission.

Chipola outscored Tallahassee in the second half, 44-27, and held the Eagles to just 26.9 percent (7-of-26) shooting from the floor.

Mohamed Touray's three-pointer at the 12:25 mark put the Indians in front to stay, 48-46.

Jeremy Hayes came off the bench to lead Tallahassee with 19 points. Kiair Crouch had 12 and Ronald Bell, 10.
