#TCCBasketball: Jackson’s three-pointer beats Daytona State

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (November 15, 2017) – Quentin Jackson's off-balanced three-pointer with 0.3 seconds left broke a 70-all tie and gave NJCAA No. 13/Region 8 No. 4 a 73-70 win at Daytona State College on Wednesday evening.

Tallahassee will bring a 4-0 record back to the Bill Hebrock Eagledome for Saturday's home opener against St. Petersburg College. Game time is 4 p.m.

Prior to Jackson's game-winner, the Eagles were staring at overtime after Leon Freeman-Daniels was whistled for a foul on Clive Allen's three-point attempt and Allen subsequently hit all three free throws to tie the game with eight seconds remaining.

Following a timeout, Jackson took the inbounds pass down the left side of the floor, dribbled to his right after crossing halfcourt and launched a somewhat desperation attempt that found nothing but net just shy of the final buzzer.

Jackson finished with 12 points, one of four Eagles in double-figures.

Javien Williams paced Tallahassee with 18 points off the bench. Jacob Winston scored 15 and Freeman-Daniels added 11.

With the game tied at 22, Daytona State doubled up Tallahassee over the final 7:29 of the first half and led 42-32 at the intermission.

Williams knocked down a three-pointer to open the second half scoring as the Eagles outscored the Falcons 9-2 over the first 2:20 to pull within 44-41.

A three-pointer by Winston tied the game at 48 with 13:36 remaining, and Tallahassee took its first lead of the half less than a minute later on layup by Jackson.

Behind Winston and Jackson, Tallahassee scored eight unanswered points to break a 52-all tie and surge in front, 60-52, at the 8:45 mark of the second half.

Tallahassee never trailed again although the Falcons missed a go-ahead three-pointer in the final 30 seconds of the game.
