#TCCBasketball: Eagles fly past Jets to 7-0 start

AMERICUS, Ga. (November 17, 2018) – Tallahassee Community College's men's basketball team ran its record to a perfect 7-0 with Saturday's 75-60 win at South Georgia Technical College on day two of the Jets Tip-off Classic.

The Eagles got the win despite being outshot from the floor – Tallahassee shot 34.4 percent compared to South Georgia Tech's 40.0 percent – and outrebounding the Jets by only one.

The game was all but determined during the first 20 minutes. Despite hitting just 12-of-29 field goal attempts while South Georgia Tech hit 9-of-18 shots, Tallahassee held a comfortable 42-29 lead at the half. The difference came behind the arc, primarily in the form of sophomore guard Mustapha Lawrence.

The Missouri State University transfer came off the bench and hit four of the Eagles' eight first-half three-pointers, finished with five threes in the game and scored a game-high 22 points. Tallahassee finished with nine three-pointers for the game, compared to just three for South Georgia Tech.

Tallahassee shot just 28.6 percent (10-of-35) in the second half but its lead never dipped below 13 by limiting South Georgia Tech to 9-of-27 shooting from the floor. The Eagles' led grew to as many as 22 (66-44) before the Jets ended the game on a 16-9 run.

Like Lawrence, Shamon Mosely came off the bench and scored in double-figures with 12 points.

The Eagles' reserves enjoyed a 35-21 advantage over their counterparts.

Eric Boone also scored in double-figures with 17 points and Richard Washington just missed a double-double, finishing with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Tallahassee will go for its eighth straight win when it hosts Albany (Ga.) Technical College at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
