#TCCBasketball: Eagle men run past Albany Tech to 8-0 start

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 20, 2018) – For the second time in seven days, Region 8 No. 5 Tallahassee Community College scored a decisive victory over Albany (Ga.) Technical College, defeating the Titans, 74-50, on Tuesday evening at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome.

Tallahassee is 8-0 for the third straight season.

The Eagles picked up a 36-point win at Albany Tech six nights ago and Tuesday's game was very similar.

The opening four minutes was a see-saw affair featuring two ties and six lead changes, the last resulting in a 10-9 lead for Tallahassee on a pair of free throws by Eric Boone at the 15:40 mark. The Eagles never trailed again but it was a 24-0 run moments later that blew the game wide open.

Thirteen points during the run came at the free throw line, where the Eagles were 18-of-23 in the first half.

Albany Tech's scoring drought ended at 9:48 when Jamarcis Nunally scored in the point at the 5:28 mark – the Titans' first field goal in more than ten minutes.

Tallahassee quickly stretched the lead back to as many as 29 but Albany Tech closed the half on an 8-2 run, punctuated by Vinny Viana's three-pointer from beyond half court at the buzzer, trimming the Eagles' lead to 47-24.

Albany Tech outscored Tallahassee for much of the second half and got within 15 (54-39) on Keyonta Tyler's basket with 12:17 left.

Aided by a technical foul on the Eagles' Mustafa Lawrence, Viana hit four free throws to cut the margin to 62-46 with 6:46 remaining, but the Titans managed just a couple of baskets by Nunally the rest of the way.

Nunally finished with a game-high 21 points, but he was the only player in double-figures for Albany Tech.

Tallahassee, meanwhile, had five players hit double-digits and three recorded double-doubles – Boone led the way with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Deven Palmer had 13 points and 13 rebounds and Richard Washington finished with 10 points, 15 rebounds and six assists.

Jalen Dalcourt finished with 15 points and Lawrence added 11.

Tallahassee will resume play on Monday when it hosts Combine (Ga.) Academy at 6 p.m.
