#TCCBasketball: Washington enjoys record night vs. Andrew

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 28, 2018) – Sophomore guard Richard Washington scored a school-record 45 points in Tallahassee Community College's 100-66 win over Andrew (Ga.) College on Wednesday evening at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome.

Washington, a transfer from Wake Forest University, also set a school record with ten three-pointers. He connected on his first eight attempts during the second half, in which he scored 30 of his 45 points.

Both records were previously held by Tre Todd, who hit nine threes as part of a 42-point effort against Red Devils Basketball Academy on December 13, 2016.

Washington also pulled down 10 rebounds for the first 40-10 double-double in school history.

The win moved Tallahassee to 10-0 for the third straight season under head coach Mark White. Andrew, who entered the game with an unblemished record, is now 6-1.

Leading 5-4, Tallahassee proceeded to score 19 unanswered points over a span of 5:26 to seize control of the game. The Fighting Tigers went almost eight minutes between made baskets and shot just 7-of-32 (21.9 percent) in the first half.

Washington knocked down a three-pointer at the 5:02 mark to start a 17-4 run that took the Eagles to the locker room with a comfortable 49-19 lead.

Washington scored 30 of the Eagles' 51 second-half points.

Just one point shy of tying Todd's scoring mark, Washington drew a foul on a three-point attempt with 4:21 left in the game. He knocked down the first free throw to pull even with Todd but misfired on the next two.

As the clock approached the 3:00 mark, Washington put his name in the record books, connecting on his tenth three-pointer for his 43rd, 44th and 45th points of the night.

Washington was extremely efficient en route to the record, connecting on 15-of-19 field goal attempts and 10-of-14 three-pointers.

Eric Boone added his own double-double – 10 assists and 11 rebounds. Mustafa Lawrence scored 12 points and Shamon Mosley added 10.

Tallahassee will return to action at 6:30 p.m. Thursday when it hosts Middle Georgia Prep Academy.
