Eagles down Spartanburg Methodist to reach 3-0

MARIANNA, Fla. (November 9, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College held Spartanburg (S.C.) Methodist College to just 27.8 percent shooting in a 92-48 win at the Panhandle Classic on Saturday. 

Tallahassee is now 3-0 on the season following a pair of weekend victories by a combined 82 points. 

Spartanburg Methodist led 2-0 but that turned out to be its only highlight of the day. Tallahassee led 38-13 at the break, behind a dominating performance on the defensive end. 

The Eagles allowed only five first half field goals (5-for-22) and the Pioneers missed all 11 of their three-point attempts. 

Tallahassee cranked things up offensively in the second stanza, scoring 54 points, behind 18-of-37 shooting from the field. 

The Eagles' defensive masterpiece also forced 32 turnovers and yielded a 52-29 advantage on the glass. 

Yahel Hill paced the Eagles with 20 points. DeAndre Gholston was next with 16 points. El Ellis had 14 points and Tariq Silver, 13.   

Tallahassee will play its third game in four days when it hosts Andrew (Ga.) College at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
