Eagles hammer Coastal-North, improve to 5-0

MONROEVILLE, Ala. (November 14, 2019) – Five players reached double-figures and everyone who dressed scored for NJCAA No. 8/Region 8 No. 3 Tallahassee Community College in Thursday's 112-60 win at Coastal Alabama Community College-North.

Tallahassee is off to a 5-0 start for the fourth straight season and sixth time in seven years.

The 112 points is the most the Eagles have scored in a true road game since February 26, 2001, when they tallied 111 in an overtime win at Chipola College.

Despite entering the game with a 0-5 record, Coastal-North had the Eagles' full attention. All five of its losses had come to Panhandle Conference opponents, including a two-point loss against Pensacola State College and a respectable 80-64 defeat to Northwest Florida State College on Tuesday.

Early on, it appeared Thursday's game would stay tight throughout. Four minutes in, the score was tied at six, and when Coastal Alabama hit a three at the 13:31 mark, it only trailed 15-14. Tallahassee, however, didn't allow another point for six minutes and all but put the game away with a 21-0 run en route to a 56-31 halftime lead.

The Eagles put up another 56-point half after the break.

Jordan Guest led the quintet in double-figures with 18. DeAndre Gholston, the reigning NJCAA Region 8 Player of the Week, had 17. Tariq Silver tossed in 16 while El Ellis scored 14 and Rifen Miguel, 11.

Tallahassee will return to action next Wednesday when it travels to Albany (Ga.) Technical College. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
