#TCCXC: Eagle men take second at Albany State

ALBANY, Ga. (September 28, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College's men's cross country team enjoyed its strongest performance of the season on Saturday, finishing second at the Willie Laster Invitational, hosted by Albany State University.

In finishing second, the Eagles not only ran past NJCAA members Georgia Military College (seventh) and Andrew College (eighth) but outscored a half dozen four-year programs as well.

Loyola-New Orleans topped the team standing with 17 points followed by Tallahassee's 86. The Eagles were comfortably ahead of third-place Albany State (122).

Morehouse, Kennesaw State, Paine, Georgia Southwestern and Fort Valley State also participated in the event.

Individually, all seven runners posted PRs in the 8K, led by freshman Daniel Randolph, who finished tenth with a time of 30:10.5.

Sophomore Dalton Gray (31:48.0) and freshman Rodolph Adonis (31:50.1) crossed the line back-to-back in 20th and 21st, respectively, followed by Austin Erbaio in 25th with a time of 33:50.5.

Freshman Keyshawn Nelson posted the biggest gain in time. His mark of 34:06.0 was almost four minutes faster than his previous best in the 8K, recorded just two weeks earlier at the TCC Eagle Invite. Nelson finished 28th overall to complete the team scoring and give the Eagles a solid 1-5.

Freshman Jaywaun Nubin was more than three minutes faster than his previous best in the 8K, running a 36:44.4 and fellow rookie Lord Wyrick completed his first 8K race with a time of 40:52.7.

With a busy opening month now in the books, the Eagles will turn their attention to the season's signature events, both of which will take place at Apalachee Regional Park – the FSU Invitational on October 11 and the FCSAA State Championships on October 25.
