TCC Softball set for another big weekend

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 1, 2013) - FCSAA No. 2 Tallahassee Community College (3-2) returns to action on Saturday with three games at the prestigious Triple Crown College Classic in St. Augustine, Fla.

The Eagles first game will be at 11 a.m. against Brevard Community College. Games against Florida State College at Jacksonville and Hillsborough Community College will follow at 1:15 p.m. and 5:15 p.m., respectively.

The Triple Crown College Classic has become a staple on the second weekend of Tallahassee's schedule and provides the Eagles with two days of action against some of the top competition in the state. Florida State College at Jacksonville is ranked No. 3 in the FCSAA Softball Coaches' Poll and No. 5 in the NJCAA Division I Softball Poll. Indian River State, one of Tallahassee's two Sunday opponents, is ranked No. 4 (FCSAA) and No. 19 (NJCAA).

Tallahassee and Indian River State will be part of Sunday's 1:15 p.m. round of games. The Eagles open day two against Palm Beach State College at 11 a.m.

At last weekend's JUCO Kickoff Classic & Showcase, Tallahassee won three of its five games, including a win against No. 1/No. 4 State College of Florida. The Eagles also played FCSAA No. 10 St. Petersburg College and will travel to No. 8 Santa Fe College on Tuesday.

The grueling start to the 2013 schedule is sure to get the Eagles' youthful roster ready for the rigors of Panhandle Conference play, which begins in mid-March. Four of the five PC teams are ranked in the FCSAA Softball Coaches' Poll - No. 6 Chipola, No. 7 Gulf Coast State and No. 9 Northwest Florida State.
