TCC Softball splits on game two of Triple Crown College Classic

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (February 3, 2013) - FCSAA No. 2 Tallahassee Community College split a pair of games on Sunday's final day of action at the Triple Crown College Classic.

Tallahassee won its opener, defeating Palm Beach State College, 7-0, behind the work of pitcher Ashley Dobson, who tossed a one-hitter. 

Dobson also struck out eight in the complete-game victory. 

Offensively, Tallahassee was led by Marina Cobbs, who was 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three stolen bases. Bianca Gutierrez was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs, and Alexis Huss was 2-for-4. 

In game two, the Eagles dropped a tough 6-5 decision to Indian River State College. 

Dobson was again the pitcher of decision for Tallahassee, this time saddled with the loss. 

Ashley Heath-Smith went 3-for-4 with a double and Brenda Santana (2-for-3) hit a pair of home runs and drove in three runs. 

Tallahassee is now 4-6 on the season and will return to play on Tuesday when it travels to Santa Fe College for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
