Split decision: TCC Softball takes one of two at St. Petersburg

CLEARWATER, Fla. (March 13, 2013) – Tallahassee Community College split its fourth consecutive doubleheader on Wednesday, defeating St. Petersburg College in game one, 11-6, then dropping the nightcap, 5-4.

In the opener, the Eagles racked up 14 hits, led by Kacey Mattos, who was 2-for-5 with a double, home run and six RBI. Brenda Santana was 3-for-4 and Tammy McMillan was 2-for-3.

Krysta Hoani and Ashley Dobson combined to limit the Titans to just five hits and one earned run.

Hoani picked up the win while Dobson was credited with the save.

In game two, Tallahassee was unable to overcome four defensive errors in the 5-4 loss.

Tampa native Krista Garcia was 1-for-2 with a double and three RBI.

Sam Moore took the loss for Tallahassee.

The Eagles (15-13) will be back in action on Thursday against NJCAA No. 6/FCSAA No. 3 State College of Florida. The doubleheader begins at 4 p.m.
