TCC Softball climbs to No. 4 in NJCAA poll

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 2, 2014) – Tallahassee Community College inched closer to the top of the national rankings on Wednesday, jumping two spots to No. 4 in the latest NJCAA Division I Softball Poll.

This marks the Eagles' highest national ranking since being ranked No. 2 on March 28, 2012.

Tallahassee, who maintained its No. 2 ranking in the FCSAA Softball Coaches' poll for a second straight week, trails only Butler (Kan.) Community College, Indian River State College – the FCSAA's No. 1 team – and Arizona Western College in the NJCAA poll.

At 29-8 overall, Tallahassee has won 24 of its last 28 games since opening the season 5-4.

More importantly, the Eagles have sprinted to a 13-1 record in Panhandle Conference play, six games in front of second-place Chipola College (6-6) with ten games remaining, leaving themselves firmly in the driver's seat for the conference championship and the PC's accompanying No. 1 seed at next month's FCSAA Gulf District Tournament.

Tallahassee can officially lock up a postseason berth as early as Wednesday evening. The Eagles need one more win or a loss by Pensacola State College. Tallahassee is idle until Friday while Pensacola State hosts Northwest Florida State College.

Tallahassee travels to Chipola on Friday for a doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. eastern.
