Pensacola bound: Eagles clinch a berth in FCSAA Softball Tournament

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 3, 2014) – Despite enjoying an off night on Wednesday, Tallahassee Community College's softball team punched its ticket to the postseason.

By virtue of Pensacola State College's game one loss to Northwest Florida State College, Tallahassee clinched a berth in next month's FCSAA Softball Tournament in Pensacola, Fla.

The Eagles are the first team to lock up a bid in the eight-team, double elimination Gulf District Tournament, comprised of four teams from both the Panhandle and Suncoast Conferences.

The tournament will take place Friday, May 2 through Sunday, May 4 at Exchange Park in Pensacola.

Immediately following the conclusion of the tournament, the Gulf District champion will play the winner of the FCSAA's accompanying Atlantic District Tournament for the overall FCSAA Championship.

The bigger prize, however, for both the Gulf and Atlantic District champions is a berth in the NJCAA Division I Softball Tournament in St. George, Utah.

In the coming days, an official FCSAA Tournament page will go live on www.TCCeagles.com and information will be posted as it becomes available.

Tallahassee, ranked No. 2 in the FCSAA and No. 4 in the NJCAA, resumes play at Chipola College on Friday. Game one of the doubleheader begins at 5 p.m. eastern.
