TCC’s Ashley Dobson named NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Softball Pitcher of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (April 9, 2014) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA), on Tuesday, named Tallahassee Community College's Ashley Dobson the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Softball Pitcher of the Week for games March 31-April 6. 

Dobson, a sophomore from Wheatfield, Ind., was 2-0 with a 1.00 ERA in two appearances during the voting period. Her two wins came in consecutive Panhandle Conference games for the Eagles – game two vs. Gulf Coast State College on March 31 and game one vs. Chipola College four days later. 

In the Gulf Coast State victory, she tossed a two-hit shutout and struck out eight in the Eagles' 6-0 victory. In Tallahassee's 4-2 win over Chipola on April 4, she allowed only five hits and struck out seven, also a complete-game effort. 

Dobson and the Eagles are currently 31-10 overall and lead the Panhandle Conference with a 15-3 record. 

Tallahassee will host Pensacola State College on Thursday afternoon for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
