Softball’s Marina Cobbs signs with Bowling Green

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (July 29, 2014) – Tallahassee Community College softball standout Marina Cobbs has signed a national letter of intent with Bowling Green State University.

Cobbs, a native of Cantonment, Fla., was a two-year starter with Tallahassee, where she appeared in 92 games and posted a .313 batting average, 38 RBI and 34 stolen bases.

"I chose Bowling Green for many reasons. The Falcons have a fantastic coaching staff and just raved about how big of an asset I can be to the program," said Cobbs. "I have communicated with some of the returning players and they have welcomed me with open arms.

"Plus, I have never experienced living up north so I am thrilled to see what adventures are ahead."

Cobbs was an honorable mention all-Panhandle Conference selection as a freshman after batting .317 with 16 RBI and 13 stolen bases. She had an equally productive sophomore campaign, batting .308 with 22 RBI and 21 stolen bases and again earned honorable mention recognition from PC coaches.

In 2014, she helped lead Tallahassee to its first Panhandle Conference Championship since 1998 and first FCSAA State Championship since 1994.

"I'm excited about the opportunity Marina has at Bowling Green," said Tallahassee head coach Patti Townsend. "She will be playing in a tough conference, which she is no stranger to, coming from the Panhandle. I expect her to go in and give them the offensive speed that they are looking for."

Bowling Green, an NCAA Division I program located in Bowling Green, Ohio, competes in the Mid-American Conference.
