TCC’s Brianna Murillo signs with Albany State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (August 20, 2014) – Tallahassee Community College softball standout Brianna Murillo has signed a national letter of intent with Albany State University.

Murillo, a native of Chino Hills, Calif., is the second member of the 2014 Eagles to sign with Albany State. Outfielder Dominique Davis gave her signature to the Rams in July.

"I couldn't be more proud of Brianna and the hard work she put in to the classroom to make this opportunity happen," said Tallahassee head coach Patti Townsend. "I'm happy that she is able to take her tremendous skills behind the plate and in the batter's box to Albany State.

"She will be a great addition to their program and I look forward to seeing her perform well over the next two years."

Murillo played in 52 games behind the plate for Tallahassee in 2014, compiling a .323 batting average, eight home runs and 32 RBI. She batted .326 with 13 homers and 56 runs driven in 82 career games with the Eagles.

Defensively, she posted a .978 career fielding percentage and committed just three errors in 284 total chances (.989 fielding percentage) during her sophomore season.

In 2014, she earned first-team All-Panhandle Conference and second-team FCSAA All-State honors while helping the Eagles to their first conference championship since 1998 and first state title since 1994.

Following the season, she was named Second-team All-South Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).

Albany State, an NCAA Division II program, is located in Albany, Ga., and competes in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
