Cook shuts out nationally-ranked Senators on day one of FPU Classic

MARIANNA, Fla. (February 14, 2015) – Freshman pitcher Alexandra Cook tossed a complete-game shutout as NJCAA No. 9 Tallahassee Community College beat No. 16 Walters (Tenn.) State Community College 4-0 in day one action at the Florida Public Utilities (FPU) Classic hosted by Chipola College.

Cook allowed only four hits and struck out seven, leading the Eagles to their eighth straight win to start the season. 

Offensively, Tallahassee was led by Kayla Boucher's two RBIs and Brooke Marendino, who was 2-for-2. 

In the Eagles' second game of the day, Tallahassee came up on the short end of a 5-1 loss to Georgia Perimeter College. 

Tallahassee committed five errors and the Eagles came up with only four hits offensively. 

Danielle Patterson had two of Tallahassee's hits and scored the lone run of the game. 

Mariah Rivera took the hard-luck loss, throwing 3.1 innings and allowing four runs. 

The Eagles will be back in action on day two of the Classic with Sunday games against Miami Dade College (10 a.m.) and Hillsborough Community College (2 p.m.).
