TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 23, 2015) – Mariah Rivera and Alexandra Cook pitched complete-game shutouts for NJCAA No. 9/FCSAA No. 4 Tallahassee Community College as the Eagles swept a doubleheader from Andrew (Ga.) College on Monday afternoon.

Rivera got the nod in game one and delivered a one-hitter as the Eagles cruised to an 8-0 victory in five innings. Cook matched her in the nightcap, allowing only one hit in a 6-0 win.

Tallahassee is now 13-2 on the season.

In game one, Tallahassee got off to a slow start but finally took control of the game in the third inning, scoring three runs.

A wild pitch scored Danielle Patterson from third with the game's first run. Taesha DuBoise came home on a ground out to short and Kiara Johnson's two-out single accounted for the inning's third run.

The Eagles scored three more runs in the fourth.

Kayla Boucher's two-run double pushed Tallahassee's lead to 5-0 and Johnson added another RBI-single to put the Eagles in front 6-0.

Tallahassee capped the opener in walk-off fashion in the fifth when Brianna Tourtillott singled home two runs for the 8-0, run rule victory.

Johnson went 3-for-3 and drove in two runs. Patterson and DuBoise were both 2-for-4 with Patterson scoring three times and DuBoise twice.

Rivera allowed just one hit and struck out 10 batters on her way to another complete game, her fourth of the season.  With the win Rivera improved to 4-0.

In game two, the Eagles came out and scored the game's first run in the bottom of the first.  After both Patterson and DuBoise reached base, Boucher flew out in foul territory, which allowed Patterson to score the inning's only run.

The Eagles did the bulk of their damage in the fifth inning, scoring four runs to take a 5-0 lead.

Shelby Manns entered the game as a pinch runner and scored on a wild throw. DuBoise singled home Patterson and later scored on a double to left by Boucher. Karley Yeager singled home Boucher for the final run of the inning.

Tallahassee completed the scoring in the sixth when Patterson scored on a sac-fly by Tourtillott.

Meanwhile, Cook took a no-hitter into the seventh before yielding a one-out single and settling for the one-hitter.

After hitting Andrew's leadoff hitter Marie Diaz in the top of the first, Cook retired the next 18 batters and ended up facing just one batter over the minimum. She struck out six to improve to 5-0.

Patterson went 2-for-4 and scored three runs for the Eagles.

Boucher drove in two runs and scored one while going 1-for-4 from the plate.

Tallahassee will return to action as Friday when it opens play at the GPC Spring Invitational in Covington, Ga.
