Eagle Softball heads to GPC Spring Invitational

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 27, 2015) – Tallahassee Community College's softball team will hit the road for three games at Georgia Perimeter College's Spring Invitational, Friday and Saturday, February 27 and 28.

The games will take place in Covington, Ga.

The Eagles are 13-2 and ranked No. 4 in the FCSAA Softball Coaches' Poll and No. 9 in the NJCAA Division I Softball Poll.

Over the two-day event, the Eagles will play teams from Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina.

The Eagles will take the field on Friday against Georgia Perimeter College at 7 p.m. The game will provide Tallahassee with a chance to avenge one of its two losses on the season.

Meeting in the FPU Classic in Marianna, Fla., on February 14, the Eagles were unable to get enough offensive production to counter the Jaguars' attack and fell 5-1, Tallahassee's first loss of the season.

Georgia Perimeter enters this weekend with an 8-5 record.

The Eagles will play two games on Saturday - noon vs. Southern Union (Ala.) State Community College and 2 p.m. vs. Spartanburg (S.C.) Methodist College. Both teams joned Tallahassee in the 2014 NJCAA Tournament in St. George, Utah, although the Eagles played neither team.

Southern Union enters the weekend 16-1 overall and ranked No. 14 in the NJCAA.

The Eagles' final opponent of the invitational is Spartanburg Methodist. This will be the only time the two squads are scheduled to meet this season. The Pioneers boast a 13-3 record heading into the weekend.
