COVINGTON, Ga (February 28, 2015) – The Tallahassee Community College Eagles softball team split their games at the GPC Invitational on Saturday.

In their first game, the Eagles suffered their third loss of the season, falling 6-1 to Southern Union (Ala.) State Community College. Tallahassee bounced back in game two and took down Spartanburg (S.C.) Methodist College, 9-1.

The Eagles are now 15-3 overall for the season.

In the first game, Tallahassee struggled to get any offensive production going, scoring its only run in the fifth inning.

Brianna Tourtillott went 2-for-3 from the plate, the only Eagle with multiple hits.  Kayla Boucher recorded the team's only RBI.

Gabrielle Decker got the start in the circle and went five innings and struck out three batters while giving up five runs, though only one was earned.  With the loss Decker is now 4-2 on the season.

Alexandra Cook took the circle in relief to throw the final inning and gave up one run.

In game two against Spartanburg Methodist, the Eagles found their bats and put up three runs to begin the game.  The Eagles also scored twice in the fourth, once in the fifth, and three in the sixth inning to take a 9-1 lead.

After Spartanburg Methodist failed to close the lead the game was called after six innings due to the run rule.

Danielle Patterson went 3-for-4, scoring twice and recording an RBI.  Kiara Johnson and Boucher each recorded two RBIs in the win.

Mariah Rivera got the start for the Eagles and went all six innings, striking out nine batters and only giving up three hits.

The Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday, March 3 when they take on the College of Central Florida in Ocala, Fla.
