TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (March 6, 2015) – The Tallahassee Community College Eagles split a doubleheader with Florida State College at Jacksonville on Friday night.

The Blue Wave claimed game one 11-7 in what turned out to be an offensive slugfest. Tallahassee answered with a 10-5 victory in game two.

The Eagles are now 16-6 on the season as they begin the final stretch of their non-conference schedule.

In game one, the Eagles got behind early and were unable to recover. The Blue Wave scored six runs in the first three innings, with five of them coming in the third.

Down 7-0 in the fourth, Tallahassee finally got on the board with four runs.

Things started after Brianna Tourtillott singled to get on base and Kayla Boucher homered, her third of the season, over the left field fence to get the Eagles their first two runs.  Gabrielle Decker then singled to get on base and was brought home by Shelby Manns.  Later, Danielle Patterson singled to bring Manns in for the score.

Florida State College came back with two more runs of its own in the fifth, a run in the sixth, and a final run in the seventh inning.

Tallahassee was able to score three more runs, with one coming in the fifth and then two in the seventh.

The Eagles were led by Boucher who went 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and a homerun.

Decker got the start for the Eagles and took the loss, her second of the season (4-2).

In game two, it was the Eagles who came out swinging, jumping out to a 3-0, first-inning lead.

Patterson got it started with a leadoff single, followed by a single from Taesha DuBoise. A throwing error scored Patterson and Tourtillott smacked a two-run homer to left field.

Tallahassee put six more runs on the board in the second.

The Eagles were able to load the bases then DuBoise singled to left on a ground ball that bounced off the third baseman, scoring two runs. Tourtillott singled into right to score another run, and a single by Taylor Scher plated another run. The final runs of the inning scored on bases-loaded walk and a wild pitch.

The Eagles scored again in the fourth inning off a solo homerun by Jaylene Pryor which put Tallahassee in front 10-0.

The Blue Wave rallied back to close the lead to 10-5 with four runs in the fifth and a run in the sixth.

Tourtillott went 2-for-3 from the plate which included two runs and a two-run homerun.

Alexandra Cook (6-1) got the start in the circle for the Eagles and earned her sixth win of the season.

The Eagles will be back in action March 12 as they hit the road to take on Andrew (Ga.) College in a doubleheader.  The first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
