TCC’s Alexandra Cook named NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Softball Pitcher of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 17, 2015) - Tallahassee Community College’s Alexandra Cook has been named the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Softball Pitcher of the Week. 

Cook, a freshman from Delta, BC, Canada, was 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in two appearances during the voting period (February 9-15). 

She picked up a pair of wins at Chipola College’s Florida Public Utilities Classic, defeating nationally-ranked Walters (Tenn.) State Community College and Hillsborough Community College on consecutive days. 

Against NJCAA No. 16 Walters State on February 14, she tossed a four-hit shutout and struck out seven in the Eagles’ 4-0 win. The next day, she went the distance again, allowed four hits and struck out ten in a 9-1 victory over Hillsborough. 

For the week, Cook totaled 14 innings of work, allowed only eight hits, one run (unearned) and one walk (0.64 WHIP) while striking out 17 batters.
