#TCCSoftball swept in DH, now plays waiting game

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (April 11, 2016) – All Tallahassee Community College's softball team can do now is sit and wait.

The Eagles (21-21) missed another opportunity to clinch a postseason berth on Monday evening, falling in both games of a doubleheader at Gulf Coast State College, 1-0 and 4-1. Tallahassee wrapped up PC play with a 5-11 record, currently good for fourth place, percentage points ahead of Pensacola State College (4-10), who was swept by Northwest Florida State College on Monday.

Tallahassee's postseason fate now rests with Pensacola State and Chipola College, who are scheduled to play one another in Marianna on Thursday. If Chipola wins both games, Tallahassee will clinch a postseason berth. If Pensacola State wins both, the Eagles will be eliminated from postseason contention. A split will force a best-of-three playoff between Tallahassee and Pensacola State.

Tallahassee could've locked up a postseason berth and clinched the Panhandle Conference's No. 3 seed with a sweep on Monday. Instead, the host Commodores (31-14) punched their ticket to the postseason and remained in contention for the PC's No. 2 seed.

Runs were hard to come by for Tallahassee on Monday.

Alison Mitts outdueled Raya Moncus in game one, pitching the Commodores to the 1-0 victory.

Gulf Coast State scored a run in the bottom of the first and Mitts made it hold up, limiting the Eagles to just five hits.

Casey Durham and Alyssa NeSmith had two hits apiece for Tallahassee.

In game two, the Commodores scored three runs in their final at-bat to pick up the 4-1 victory.

Gulf Coast State took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth, but Tallahassee tied things up with a run in the top of the sixth.

Alexandra Cook took the loss for Tallahassee.

Durham had two hits and an RBI for the Eagles.
