TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (February 23, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College split a softball doubleheader with Santa Fe College on Thursday, dropping game one, 4-3 in eight innings, and winning game two, 2-1.

Tallahassee is now 10-4 on the season while Santa Fe is 10-5.

After dropping the opener, Tallahassee rebounded to earn the split with a 2-1 victory in the nightcap.

Callie Paine (5-1) went the distance in the circle for Tallahassee, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out six.

Tallahassee got both of its runs in the third inning.

Santa Fe scored its only run of the game in the sixth, a solo homer from Haissette Escudero.

Cecchetti went 2-for-3 for the Eagles. Five other players had one hit each.

In the opener, Rosenbaum smacked a three-run homer in the first to give the Eagles and starting pitcher Raya Moncus a quick 3-0 lead.

Moncus carried the shutout into the fourth when Santa Fe scored twice.

Moncus was one out away from the win but Cindy Benson's pinch-hit single with two outs scored Adrix Paradizo with the tying run. The Saints scored the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth and Autumn Green pitched out of a two-on, none-out jam in the bottom half.

With runners on the corners and one out, Rosenbaum flied out to center and Cassidy Strickling was tagged out at home with what would have been the tying run, ending the game.

Rosenbaum was 1-for-4 with the three-run homer.

Moncus (5-2) allowed only five hits and one walk over eight innings, coming up on the short end of the decision.

Tallahassee will travel to St. Petersburg College for a Saturday doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
