#TCCSoftball drops two at PC Round Robin

NICEVILLE, Fla. (March 18, 2017) – Tallahassee Community College's softball team dropped two games at Saturday's Panhandle Conference Round Robin event, hosted by Northwest Florida State College. 

Chipola College defeated Tallahassee, 6-1, in the Eagles' first game of the day. Tallahassee played Gulf Coast State College in its second game and fell, 7-4 in nine innings. 

Saturday's event brought all five PC schools together for a day of games – two for each team. Tallahassee will host the second Round Robin on Saturday, April 8, when the Eagles will play single games against Northwest Florida State and Pensacola State College. 

In Saturday's first game, Chipola outhit Tallahassee, 11-7, en route to the 6-1 victory. 

The Indians took a 1-0 lead after an inning and increased their advantage to 3-0 after three innings. A three-run fifth all but put the game away. 

Samantha Malik's RBI-single scored Casey Durham to get the Eagles on the board in the sixth. 

Malik finished 1-for-3. Durham was 1-for-4. 

Alycia Smith was 2-for-4. 

Callie Paine (6-5) took the game one loss for Tallahassee. 

In the second game of the day, Gulf Coast State scored the tying run in the top of the seventh then plated three runs in the top of the ninth to pick up the 7-4 win. 

Tallahassee's own rally put itself in position to get the win. 

Trailing 3-1, the Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 4-3 lead. 

Raya Moncus (8-8) went the distance for Tallahassee but took the loss in the circle. 

Offensively, Brandie Callaway led the Eagles, going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Kristin Gunter was 2-for-5. 

Tallahassee will host Gulf Coast State for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
