#TCCSoftball earns NFCA Scholar-Athlete honors

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (October 12, 2016) – Seven members of Tallahassee Community College’s 2016 softball team have been recognized as Easton/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Scholar-Athletes. 

The NFCA recognized more than 5,000 student-athletes who achieved a 3.5 GPA or higher during the 2015-16 academic year. 

Tallahassee’s NFCA Scholar-Athlete honorees are: Brooke Bates, Elisa Cecchetti, Alexandra Cook, Casey Durham, Kiara Johnson, Alyssa NeSmith and Raya Moncus. 

All seven earned all-academic honors by both the Florida College System Activities Association and Panhandle Conference in 2016 while Cecchetti, Cook, Durham and NeSmith added academic honors from the NJCAA. 

Cecchetti, with a perfect 4.0 GPA, earned the NJCAA’s highest academic honor, the Pinnacle Award for Academic Excellence. 

Cook and NeSmith received the NJCAA’s Superior Academic Achievement Award while Durham received the Exemplary Academic Achievement Award.  

As a team, Tallahassee was honored by the NJCAA in 2016 with the All-Academic Team Honorable Mention award for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
