#TCCSoftball alum Kristin Gunter shares field with USA Softball

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (August 4, 2017) – The USA Softball Women’s National Team toured the Southeast – or more specifically, the state of Alabama – in late July, making stops at the University of Alabama and Auburn University.

In Auburn, the Red, White and Blue played a doubleheader against the Alabama Stars, a roster of college softball stars from four-year schools located, primarily, in Alabama. Among the players who took the field at Auburn’s Jane B. Moore Stadium was former Tallahassee Community College standout and Alabama State University signee Kristin Gunter.

Gunter, a native of Pensacola, Fla., signed with Alabama State following a two-year career with Tallahassee (2015-17). Though she did not see game action against Team USA, the evening was one she will not soon forget.

“It was absolutely incredible,” said Gunter. “I'm so thankful I was given the opportunity to play with an amazing group of girls and against players I've looked up to my whole life.

“All in all, to play with top division athletes and against Team USA was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had.

The Alabama Stars were coached by Gunter’s soon-to-be coach at Alabama State, Chris Steiner-Wilcoxson.

Team USA won both games of the doubleheader, 10-2 and 7-0.
