CLEARWATER, Fla. (January 26, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College opened the 2019 softball season at the annual JUCO Kickoff Classic and Showcase in Clearwater but came away winless in four games.
On Friday, the Eagles played a pair of Southern Conference opponents – Eastern Florida State College and Miami Dade.
In the season opener against Eastern Florida State, the Eagles fell 14-6. Tallahassee fell behind 9-1 through two innings and was unable to recover.
In the second game of day one, Miami Dade claimed a 7-1 victory.
On Saturday, the Eagles faced NJCAA No. 3 Florida SouthWestern State College and came up on the short end of a 13-1 decision.
Tallahassee jumped on the Bucs for a run in the top of the first but the lead was short-lived. FSW plated two runs in its first at-bat, followed by five in the second, four in the third and two in the fourth.
In the final game of the weekend, the Eagles lost to Iowa Central Community College, 6-3.
Tallahassee will return to action on Wednesday when it travels to Abraham Baldwin (Ga.) Agricultural College for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
