#TCCSoftball completes perfect weekend

LONGWOOD, Fla. (February 24, 2019) – Tallahassee Community College's softball team completed a perfect weekend with two more victories on Sunday at the Seminole State College Classic.

After picking up two wins on Saturday, the Eagles were back at work early Sunday morning, defeating St. Johns River State College, 12-2, and Miami Dade, 6-3, to run their winning streak to four and improve to 11-11 overall.

Tallahassee run-ruled the Vikings in the opening game of the day behind a 12-hit attack. The Eagles scored in each of their at-bats during the five-inning win.

Kathy Rios' two-run single capped a three-run first to put the Eagles on top. She had another two-run single an inning later as Tallahassee quickly jumped out to a 7-0 lead.

The lead eventually reached 12-0 before the Vikings ended the shutout bid with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Rios was 2-for-4 with four RBIs. Katelyn Hobbs was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and an RBI. River Glenn went 3-for-3, scored four runs and drove in one.

Olivia Russell and Ismay Poot had three RBIs each.

Sidney Mathis (6-5) came on in relief after 1.1 innings from starter Sammie Massaro and picked up the win.

The Eagles collected 10 more hits in the 6-3 win over Miami Dade.

Ismay Poot went 3-for-3 including a two-run homer that capped a four-run third inning to break a scoreless tie.

Miami Dade got within a run but Tallahassee scored runs in the fifth and sixth to regain a three-run cushion.

Emma Fowler (2-2) started and went 4.2 innings for the Eagles to earn the win. Mathis pitched the final 2.1 innings for the save.

Tallahassee will return to play on Wednesday when it hosts the Thomas University JV for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
