Lady Eagles beat Santa Fe, move to 3-0

MARIANNA, Fla. (November 8, 2012) - FCSAA No. 3 Tallahassee Community College passed its first major test of the 2012-13 season, defeating No. 6 Santa Fe College, 69-60, on day one of the Collegiate Girls Basketball Report Classic in Marianna, Fla. 

Tallahassee improved to 3-0 with the win while previously 3-0 Santa Fe (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season. 

Santa Fe led 35-32 at the intermission, but Tallahassee turned up the defensive pressure in the second half, limiting the Saints to just 25 points. Offensively, the Lady Eagles put 37 points on the board to turn the three-point deficit into a nine-point victory. 

For the third straight game, Tallahassee was the beneficiary of a balanced scoring attack. 

Freshman Karley Barnes led the way with 19 points. Jeraldine Campbell was next with 14 points. Addesha Collins tallied 13 and Alexis Grant, 12. 

Monique Bunk led the Saints with 19 points while Tiara Thompson recorded her second straight double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Paulina Zaveckaite scored 12 points to go with six rebounds. 

Tallahassee will take Friday off before resuming play at the Classic on Saturday with a 6 p.m. game against No. 7 St. Petersburg College.
