TCC students:Win a book scholarship worth up to $500

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (October 23, 2012) - Tallahassee Community College opens the 2012-13 basketball season on Friday, November 2, and TCC students attending the men's and women's doubleheader will have the opportunity to win a book scholarship worth up to $500.

TCC students, who receive free admission to all athletic events held at the College, are being asked to bring a non-perishable food item as their "ticket" the Eagles' season opener. Students who donate an item will have their name entered into a drawing for a $250 book scholarship. The winner will be announced in between the 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. games

Additionally, during halftime of the 8:30 p.m. men's game, the winning student will get one shot from halfcourt and the opportunity to increase the scholarship to $500.

NOTE: There is no limit on the number of items a student can donate, however, there is a limit of three entries in the prize drawing. TCC student-athletes are not eligible. 

The items collected on Friday, November 2 will be given to the Office of Student Volunteerism's Eagles' Nest Food Pantry.

Tallahassee will host Albany (Ga.) Technical College in the 6:30 p.m. women's game followed by Tallahassee and Gadsden State (Ala.) Community College in the 8:30 p.m. men's contest - the final two of four games on day one of theTallahassee Democrat Tip-off Classic. The first two games will take place at 2 and 4 p.m.

Four more games will take place on Saturday, November 3, culminating with a Tallahassee-Central Georgia Technical College doubleheader at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m.

General admission is $5. TCC students, faculty and staff are admitted free with a valid TCC ID.

All proceeds from ticket sales on Saturday, November 3 will be given to the United Way of the Big Bend.
