Lady Eagles slip past Indian River State for sixth straight win

FT. PIERCE, Fla. (December 8, 2012) - FCSAA No. 5 Tallahassee Community College rallied from a four-point halftime deficit to defeat Indian River State College, 49-46, on Saturday afternoon in NJCAA women's basketball action.

Tallahassee (10-2) has won six straight games going into a three-week break for the holidays.

Saturday's win was very much a tale of two halves.

Indian River State played the role of aggressor in the first 20 minutes, and the result was 20 free throw attempts and a 14-5 advantage in scoring from the charity stripe. All that helped stake the Pioneers to a 31-27 lead.

Tallahassee turned the tables in the second stanza, however, limiting Indian River State to only seven field goals and 15 total points. The Pioneers missed their only free throw attempt of the second half.

Karley Barnes scored seven of her team-high 13 points after the intermission, helping Tallahassee to a 22-15 advantage in the second half and the come-from-behind victory.

Aiyannah Peal was the only other Lady Eagle in double-figures with 12.

Bria Dorsey led all scorers with 15 for Indian River State. Arielle Gallon scored 13 and Samaria Howard added 10.

Tallahassee will return to action on December 28-29 when it hosts the Comfort Inn Holiday Classic at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome.
