Lady Eagles down St. Pete for fifth straight win

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (December 7, 2012) - FCSAA No. 5 Tallahassee Community College won its fifth straight game on Friday evening, defeating No. 9 St. Petersburg College, 70-57, in NJCAA women's basketball action.

Tallahassee is now 9-2 on the season while the loss evened St. Petersburg's record at 5-5.

Alexis Grant scored 11 first-half points to help Tallahassee carry a 34-29 lead into the locker room. The Lady Eagles hit 16-of-22 from the free throw line in the second half as they outscored the Titans, 36-28, to pull away for the victory.

Grant added 11 more points in the second half and finished with a team-high 22. Sofia da Silva added 18 points and Addesha Collins chipped in with 12.

St. Petersburg's Antqunita Reed led all scorers with 32 points.

Tallahassee will travel cross state to Ft. Pierce, Fla., for a 2 p.m. game on Saturday against Indian River State College.
