Lady Eagles look to extend winning streak at Gulf Coast State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (January 30, 2013) - Two consecutive victories, including one over nationally-ranked Chipola College, have elevated Tallahassee Community College's women's basketball team to a No. 18 ranking in the latest NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Poll, released on Wednesday.

More importantly, the wins have put Tallahassee (13-6) right back in the thick of the race for a postseason berth entering Wednesday night's 6:30 p.m. eastern tilt at No. 9 Gulf Coast State College (19-3, 4-2 PC).

Tallahassee and Gulf Coast State are ranked No. 4 and No. 3, respectively, in this week's FCSAA Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll.

The Tallahassee-Gulf Coast State women's contest will be game one of a doubleheader between the two schools on Wednesday evening. The men's game is slated for an 8:30 p.m. eastern tip.

Wins over Pensacola State College and NJCAA No. 8/FCSAA No. 2 Chipola have the Lady Eagles at 2-3 in Panhandle Conference play and in fourth place in the league standings - but only one game back in the loss column of a trio of 4-2 teams, including Gulf Coast State. The back-to-back victories have put Tallahassee in position to make a run at one of the PC's three postseason berths entering, arguably, the biggest week of season for the Lady Eagles.

Tallahassee will travel to another of the 4-2 teams, Northwest Florida State College, on Saturday.

On the men's side, Tallahassee (12-9, 0-5) will try to snap a five-game losing streak, one that includes an 82-66 loss at home to FCSAA No. 6 Gulf Coast State (18-5, 3-3) on January 12.
