Lady Eagles end season on winning note

PENSACOLA, Fla. (February 23, 2013) – FCSAA No. 6 Tallahassee Community College ended the 2012-13 season with a 63-60 win over No. 10 Pensacola State College on Saturday evening in Panhandle Conference basketball action. 

Tallahassee ends the season with a 15-11 record, 4-8 in Panhandle Conference play. Pensacola State finishes 11-16 (0-12). 

Trailing 57-56 inside the 2:00 mark, Tallahassee's Sarah Williams hit a runner along the baseline to give the Lady Eagles a one-point lead. 

On Pensacola State's ensuing possession, Alexis Horton had her shot blocked by Yanique Gordon. Gordon then converted on the offensive end for Tallahassee, picking up an offensive rebound and a putback to push the Lady Eagles' lead to 60-57. 

After Allysia Rohlehr missed a potential game-tying three-pointer, Sofia da Silva hit two free throws to give Tallahassee a 62-57 lead. 

Rohlehr hit a three-pointer to pull Pensacola State within two with four seconds remaining, but Williams, who took the inbounds pass, beat the backcourt pressure, drew a foul and hit the front end of the one-and-one with 1.4 seconds remaining. 

Early on, the game was all Tallahassee. 

Behind a trio of three-pointers from Jeraldine Campbell, the Lady Eagles scored the first 13 points of the game en route to a 36-28 lead to the intermission. 

Campbell finished with a game-high 23 points for Tallahassee. 

Rohlehr and Shomari Kendrick scored 16 points apiece for Pensacola State.
