Campbell’s jersey on display at Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame’s ‘Ring of Honor’

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (June 28, 2013) – The jersey of Tallahassee Community College women's basketball standout Jeraldine Campbell is now on display at the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame's 'Ring of Honor' in Knoxville, Tenn. 

Campbell is one of over 100 players nationwide who was selected for the 'Ring of Honor," a tradition that has honored All-Americans at both the high school and collegiate levels since the Hall of Fame opened its doors in 1999. 

"What an outstanding honor for Jeraldine and Tallahassee Community College's women's basketball program," said Rob Chaney, director of athletics. "To have our name and brand on display inside the Hall of Fame is a tremendous opportunity, and I'm very appreciative the Hall of Fame wanted to recognize Jeraldine's outstanding 2012-13 season." 

Upon learning her jersey was on display in the Hall of Fame, Campbell said she "loved the honor" and that it "feels great." 

A native of Shuqualak, Miss., Campbell played at East Mississippi Community College as a freshman then transferred to Tallahassee prior to the 2012-13 season. 

In her one season with the Lady Eagles, Campbell earned third-team all-America honors by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and was a first-team pick by the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA)/NJCAA Region 8 and Panhandle Conference. In addition, she was runner-up in voting for Panhandle Conference Player of the Year. 

Campbell led Tallahassee in scoring at 16.6 points per game and shot a team-best 80.6 percent (75-of-93) from the free throw line. She also averaged 5.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.9 steals in 22 games. She was even better in league play, averaging 18.7 points per game, highlighted by a school-record 38-point effort at Gulf Coast State College on January 30. 

She is the first Tallahassee Community College player to be recognized in the Hall of Fame's 'Ring of Honor."
