St. Petersburg drops Tallahassee, Eagles split road trip

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (November 2, 2013) - FCSAA No. 4 St. Petersburg College (1-0) defeated No. 5 Tallahassee Community College (1-1), 65-50, on Saturday afternoon in NJCAA women's basketball action.

After opening its season in Tampa on Friday evening with an 11-point win over No. 9 Hillsborough Community College, Tallahassee made the short trip across the bay for Saturday's tilt with the Titans. 

Playing its season opener, St. Petersburg, the defending Southern Conference Champions, overcame an early deficit to grab a 31-22 halftime lead. The Titans extended the margin in the final 20 minutes, outscoring Tallahassee, 34-28. 

All eight players on Tallahassee's roster made their way into the scorebook, although none reached double-digits. 

Tyeshia Guinnie and Jasmine Queen led the Eagles with nine points each. Addesha Collins and Aariel Allen scored seven each. Benedicta Makakala and Marija Pacar added six points each. Teleshia Riley scored four and Adriana Blackmon chipped in with two. 

Tallahassee returns to action in Marianna, Fla., on Friday, November 8 when it plays NJCAA No. 10 Darton (Ga.) State College on day one of the Collegiate Girls Basketball Report Classic, hosted by Chipola College.
