Eagle women return to action Friday at Santa Fe

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 22, 2013) – Tallahassee Community College's women's basketball team will play its sixth ranked opponent in seven games on Friday evening when it travels to Gainesville, Fla., for a 7 p.m. showdown against the Santa Fe College Saints.

The game will be broadcast live on NJCAA TV

Both Tallahassee and Santa Fe are ranked in this week's FCSAA Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll – the Eagles are No. 6; the Saints, No. 10. In addition to playing Santa Fe on November 9, Tallahassee has faced No. 5 Florida State College at Jacksonville, No. 7 St. Petersburg College, No. 8 Hillsborough Community College and nationally-ranked Darton (Ga.) State College.

Tallahassee sports a 4-2 record, including a 73-71 win over Santa Fe at the Collegiate Girls Basketball Report Classic in Marianna, Fla., in the teams' first meeting. Friday will mark the second of three games between the two teams this season. Tallahassee will return to Gainesville on December 6-7 for the annual Florida College's Women's Basketball Classic, where it plays Hillsborough and Santa Fe.

Tallahassee has enjoyed a six-day break since winning at Chattahoochee Valley (Ala.) Community College, 86-57, on November 16. Santa Fe (3-5), on the other hand, played Tuesday night and defeated Albany (Ga.) Technical College, 60-49, to snap a five-game losing skid.

In the teams' first meeting, Addesha Collins hit a pair of free throws with 3.1 seconds remaining to break a 71-all tie and give the Eagles the win. She finished with a game-high 26 points in the win to lead a quartet of players in double-figures.

Santa Fe also had four players, all starters, in double-figures, as its starting five scored all but six of the team's points.

Following Friday's game, Tallahassee will head home and begin preparations for the Tallahassee Democrat Thanksgiving Classic, which begins Tuesday and continues through Thanksgiving Day at the Bill Hebrock Eagledome.
