TCC women fall to Gadsden State on day one of Tallahassee Democrat Thanksgiving Classic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (November 26, 2013) - FCSAA No. 6 Tallahassee Community College shot just 17.7 percent (14-of-79) from the floor and dropped a 63-45 decision to Gadsden State (Ala.) Community College on day one of the Tallahassee Democrat Thanksgiving Classic.

From the outset, Tallahassee struggled offensively against the Cardinals. The Eagles misfired on 26 of their first 28 attempts, yet only trailed 18-10 with 7:18 left in the first half. Gadsden State closed the half on a 13-8 run and led 31-18 at the break.

Tallahassee shot 3-of-37 overall in the first half and 2-of-18 from long distance.

Tallahassee tried to make a game of things in the second half but could get no closer than 15 points. With only seven available players on Tuesday, foul trouble plagued the Eagles throughout and with 4:04 left in the game, Jasmine Queen fouled out, leaving Tallahassee with only four players.

Marija Pacar led Tallahassee in scoring with 13 points. Aariel Allen added 12.

Gadsden State, who improved to 6-0, was led by Lacey Buchanan, who scored a game-high 23 points. Taylor Frazier scored 13. Taylor Adams added 11 points and 14 rebounds, and Carla Clemmons tallied 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Tallahassee, now 5-3 on the season, will play NJCAA No. 11 Walters State (Tenn.) Community College, at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on day two of the Classic.

Walters State defeated Daytona State College, 77-52, in Tuesday's first game.  


Following the games on Tuesday and Wednesday, fans are invited to attend the Postgame Party with the Eagles served by Applebee's. This week's postgame party will take place at Applebee's located at 1388 Capital Circle NW. Fans who bring a game program to the store will receive 10% off any full-price menu item. Applebee's will also be offering half-price appetizers after 10 p.m. both days.
