Eagle women suffer narrow loss at Shootout

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (December 6, 2013) – Last month, Tallahassee Community College opened its 2013-14 season with a win over Hillsborough Community College. The teams met again on Friday night but with a different result.

Hillsborough outscored the Eagles in the second half, 37-32, and picked up a 68-63 win over Tallahassee on day one at the annual Florida College's Women's Basketball Shootout, hosted by Santa Fe College.

Tallahassee is now 5-6 while Hillsborough improves to 8-3.

The teams played to a 31-all tie at the half but Tallahassee managed to hit only 12-of-36 shots from the floor in the second half. Meanwhile, Hillsborough, connected on 14-of-30 and it was just enough to pull out the victory over the Eagles.

Tallahassee again played with just seven players and all seven scored, however, Aariel Allen was the lone player in double-figures with 19.

Rachel Reid led a quarter of Hawks in double-digits with 16.

The Eagles will try to earn a split in the weekend event on Saturday when it plays host Santa Fe at 6 p.m. The game can be seen on NJCAA TV.
